Interview with the CEO of Mobis Slovakia
The year 2024 is definitely behind us. What are the most important achievements of Mobis Slovakia last year?
In 2024, we achieved several important milestones. Despite the difficult conditions on the market, we recorded an increase in production compared to the previous year. We expanded production with new technologies and innovative solutions in the field of electromobility, including the start of the construction of a new plant for the production of components for electric cars in Nováky and the new CPP2 hall here at the MSK campus.
Can you elaborate on Mobis Slovakia’s plans for the year 2025?
It is certainly a further development in the field of electromobility. We will continue to invest in the production of components for electric vehicles and support the development of this segment in Slovakia. We introduce new technologies and digital solutions to improve efficiency and competitiveness. We invest in the education and development of our employees to enable them to grow with our company. We will also continue to actively support local communities and participate in the development of the region.
What are the challenges facing Mobis Slovakia in 2025?
The automotive industry is a highly competitive environment and we must constantly adapt to new trends. Among the key challenges is the global economic situation, i.e. uncertainty in global markets, which can affect the demand for our products. Currently, finding and retaining qualified employees is increasingly difficult.
How do you perceive the company’s social responsibility and how is Mobis Slovakia engaged in this area?
Social support is very important to us and support supports local communities as well as charity work. For example, in 2024, we financially supported hospitals, schools and kindergartens in the Žilina region, retirement homes, a children’s home in Necpaly, and various animal shelters. I personally also liked the campaign with transparent umbrellas and technical education for elementary school children focused on road safety together with our Czech colleagues. Of course, we also think about the environment, we introduce ecological solutions and support projects aimed at nature protection.
Now a little less formally. If you had to describe Mobis Slovakia in one word, what would it be?
That’s a difficult question! (smile) I would probably say “innovative”. At Mobis, we are constantly moving forward, looking for new technologies and solutions. We are open to change and want to be a leader in the automotive industry.
Hyundai Mobis is a Korean company. In your opinion, what is the biggest difference between Korean and Slovak work culture?
(laughter) Well, there would certainly be several differences! Koreans are known for their discipline and workaholism. In Slovakia, people suffer more from the balance between work and private life. At Mobis, we try to find a golden middle path. We want to be efficient, but at the same time we respect the needs of our employees. And of course, we don’t forget a bit of Korean hospitality. (wink)
And what do you like best about Slovak culture as such?
I’ve been in Slovakia for over a year, it’s hard to choose just one thing! (smile) There is beautiful nature, rich history and traditions. I noticed that folk songs and dances are full of energy and joy. People here are friendly, hospitable and have a sense of humor.
Imagine having the opportunity to meet each employee in person. What would you like to say to him?
That would be great! I would like to personally thank everyone for their work and dedication. I would tell him that I value the contribution of each employee to the success of our company. And of course, I would be interested in how he works with us and what we could improve.
