Hyundai MOBIS, was established in 1977 in Soul, the South Korea, under the name Hyundai Precision Industrystarted as the producer of containers and within three years overtook the top leaders in this field. During the 90’s MOBIS began to orientate on automotive industry and produced cars such as Hyundai Galloper and Hyundai Santamo whose production was moved to Hyundai Motor Company in 1999. The same year 1999 Hyundai Mobis launched the production of chassis modules and in November 2000 a formal transformation of the company took place including the change of the name to Hyundai Mobis.
The Company all over the world makes an effort to compete in the field of new technologies. In this situation knowledge of unique technologies is an absolute necessity, particularly in the automotive market.
- Mobis Technical Research Institute is doing its best to succeed in such a competition and the top areas of research and development concentrates mainly on modules (front and rear axle and cockpit) and on other core parts such as airbag and brake systems.
- From its foundation MOBIS has been improving its competitiveness in the global market and pays attention to quality of its products in order to supply the best quality products to satisfy its main customers – Hyundai Motor and KIA Motors.
Role
MObility Beyond Integrated Solution
The name of our company „MOBIS“ was originally composed of the words „Mobile“ + „System“. It was redefined into Abbreviation from „Mobility Beyond Integrated Solution„. It has been representing our attempt to move forward as a provider of mobility, as well as our inovations for optimal solutions providing over-values for our customers.
- Hyundai Mobis has been situated in over 30 countries all over the world
- In brenches and development centers (Korea, USA – Detroit, Germany – Frankfurt, China – Shanghai) have been using the best technologies and the most modern procedures in operation lines in Gbeľany.
Mobis in Slovakia
Mobis Slovakia branch was established on 24.02.2004 in Gbeľany in Žilina. The kick-off is dated 07.03.2005 started construction of area 5,5 ha in the area 55 ha and Re-distribution center to distribute auto-parts throughout the Europe. The installation of production lines and all necessary equipment started in October 2005, finished within one year.
- Currently, the company has had over 2200 employees.
- Mobis Slovakia is one of the biggest supplier in automotive within Slovakia. Our company has been producing about 42% of the vehicle produced in KIA Slovakia, our main customer.
In 2023, we reached the highest capacity level of our production lines, with the largest production of 351 270 cars, historically.
The company has been planning on other investment project, hiring other 600 employees, establishing a new brench in Nováky, by the end of 2025, expanding production in Žilina, 1 new plant, starting production in 2026.
